This wooded and grassland is about 70 kilometers from Shashemene a town that is close to the Chitu entrance of the abijata-shalla park. This sanctuary sits on a small hill and was made to preserve the endemic species of hartebeest.  Currently there is over 2000 of them in this area.Though small it is worth a visit. Other wildlife found here are bohor reedbuck , Oribi Warthog and a good variety of birds.

This park gets its name from Awash river (or vice versa) which runs north into a gigantic gorge to the left of the park and leaves on towards the Afar region after the park. The gorge has spectacular waterfalls and rafting is possible. There is a hot spring on the border of the park and fantale crater lies in its middle. It is generally dry and hot getting to temperatures of 42 degrees Celsius in the day.  In the evening it is cooler. 

This park is in one of the most spectacular landscapes in the world.  Erosion  has caused jagged mountain peaks, deep valleys and sharp precipices. The park is home of some of the world's threatened species of animal plant and bird life like Gelada baboon, the Simien fox and the Walia ibex, a goat that are only found in Ethiopia and are endemic to the country.  This spectacular landscape rivals Colorado’s Grand Canyon.  There are over 20 large mammals and 130 bird species found here.

At the Sanetti plateau you can enjoy a magnificent view as you drive along the spectacular road from Goba south to Dolo-Mena.  It is the highest all-weather road in Africa,  and takes you through some of the loveliest mountain scenery in Africa that can be viewed from the comfort of your vehicle. Beautiful juniper and hagenia forest, brilliant iridescent Tacazze and Malachite Sunbirds.

This is one of the two clubs in Ethiopia.  The Golf Club has nine holes and you can either join the club or pay a greens fee. A driving range is available and clubs can be rented.
