Nigeria is in the Gulf of Guinea its highest point being Chappal Waddi and its lowest point is at the west coast. Niger and Benue are the country's main rivers, they converge and empty into the Niger Delta, one of the world's largest river deltas. This area is known for its Central African Mangroves.

The People
Nigerians are Robust friendly and warm people. With over 250 ethnic groups, Nigeria has one of the richest ethnic diversity in the world. The most influential of these groups are the Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba. This diversity also reflects in the range of varied customs and languages. Foreigners in Nigeria are a small minority comprising Eat and other west Africans, British, American, East Indian, Chinese, white Zimbabwean, Japanese, Greek, Syrian, Cubans and Lebanese immigrants in Nigeria. These minorities mostly reside in major cities such as Lagos and Abuja, or in the Niger Delta as employees for the major oil companies.
The official language of Nigeria is English. Pidgin English, Yoruba and Igbo are also widely spoken. Though there are over 500 languages spoken in the country, three major families of African languages are used that is Niger-Congo languages, Hausa (Afro-Asiatic) and Kanuri. Nigeria is divided between Islam and Christianity and has a small population of traditional religion. The north is muslim (mainly sunni) the middle belt is almost equaly muslim and christian and the south mainly christian.
A good number of Nigerians have relocated abroad during difficult economic times. It is estimated that over 21000 doctors employed in the US public seervice are Nigerians which is about the same number employed in Nigeria. Musicians, designers and sportsmen also form a large number of the population of Nigerians in diaspora. Football is Nigeria's national sport and a good number of players from it's National team super eagles play international football.
Nigerian cuisine is rich, hot and varied. It incorporates a range of spices, herbs and flavorings. Palm oil or groundnut oil is extensively used. Nigerian enjoy lavish and colorful feasts and most gatherings are not short of a few hundred people.
The Weather
The country has a varied landscape. The south has tropical forest and is hot and humid. It rains most of the year hear. On the contrary the northern areas are hot savannah grassland with some areas receiving less than 20" of rain a year.
